Thank you for your work and for offering us solidarity on the grounds of a Peoples Global Action. We are considering the call for a Global Conference received at the PGA Conference in Belgrade

There are conflicting reports about why and when the dates of the proposed PGA Global Conference in Nepal will be changed to. On the one hand there is the relation to the date for the WTO conference. Some feel this is important. Some feel this association undermines the revolutionary potential of the conference and that the whole project is a reactionary one.

At the meeting on Confronting Institutional Rascism in the PGA in London (ourmayday ) there was discussion of how to include participants from Africa and refugees from around the world if we are to organise a global meeting. The main concern was that this would take alot of time in making links, arranging visits and organising visas, funds and travel for participants. It was also felt that this process is just as important as the conference itself, if not more.

During our participation in organising of the Belgrade Conference in July 04, we identified a pro-western European bias. One way this manifested is in the dominance of English language in the process and the failure of the organisers to take this seriously. In the Belgrade conference, organisers committed to ensure all texts in English were translated into Serbian and Russian. In the event this was not done and the very poorly put together readers were only in English.

In order for PGA Asia to include huge parts of Asia like Russia, China that it has so far not done, it is necessary to question the regional organisation of the PGA. How can we ensure that regional languages across Asia are accounted for.

We have been informed that the PGA Asia meeting of 29/09/04 is of the view that there are no security problems in Kathmandu. Before we can move to invite muslim activists and groups from around Asia we would appreciate a more detailed survey, since the last we heard there were cerfews in Kathmandu last month following mob violence and mosque burning in the city.

On a global level, we see the lack of a PGA Africa as a big problem for a global conference to go ahead and that inclusion of African groups is an urgent priority for the organising of this conference.
